London South Bank University is a public university in Southwark, central London, founded in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic Institute and granted university status in 1992. It has a strongly vocational focus, with established provision in nursing and midwifery, allied health, engineering, the built environment and business, and teaches around 15,000 students.
