About
Liverpool John Moores University is a public university whose origins lie in the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts of 1823, and which took its present name and university status in 1992 after a period as Liverpool Polytechnic. Named after the philanthropist Sir John Moores, it is known for sport and exercise sciences, astrophysics, engineering, nursing and forensic science, and teaches on two city-centre campuses.
