About
The University of Portsmouth is a modern university whose teaching buildings are spread through the centre of the island city of Portsmouth, on England's south coast. Its origins lie in the Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art, which opened in 1870, and it became a university in 1992. It has research strengths in cosmology, forensic and biological sciences, and engineering.
