About
The University of the West of England, Bristol, known as UWE Bristol, is a public university that grew out of Bristol Polytechnic and gained university status in 1992, with educational roots in a merchant navigation school of 1595. It has a strongly professional and vocational focus, with well-established provision in engineering, health, business, law and the creative industries.
