Victoria University of Wellington (Te Herenga Waka) is a public research university in New Zealand's capital, founded in 1897 as Victoria College and independent since 1962. It teaches around 21,000 students across faculties covering humanities and social sciences, science, engineering, education, health, law, business and government, and architecture and design, and is particularly known for law, public policy and the humanities.
