Illinois State University is the oldest public university in Illinois, founded in 1857 in Normal as a teacher-training institution and now a comprehensive public research university with seven degree-granting colleges. Its academic strengths include education, business, nursing and fine arts, and it enrols students from more than 70 countries. International students can also enter through pathway and academic English programmes offered with INTO University Partnerships.
