About
The University of Ottawa is a public research university in downtown Ottawa, founded in 1848 as the College of Bytown and given university status in 1866. It is the largest English-French bilingual university in the world and teaches degrees in both official languages, with a French immersion stream, and its position beside Canada's parliamentary and hospital districts supports strengths in law, public policy, medicine and health sciences.
