Oxford Brookes University is a public university in Oxford that began as the Oxford School of Art in 1865 and gained university status in 1992. It teaches around 26,000 students and is known for architecture, business and accounting, engineering and motorsport, publishing and nursing. Most teaching is on the Headington Campus a mile east of the city centre.
